1964 - Wolfe Tone
1964 - Wolfe Tone
Limited Edition Glicée print, with archival inks, printed on Hahnemühle archival Photorag paper.
Standing on the north-eastern corner of Saint Stephen’s Green, 1964 - Wolfe Tone by sculptor Edward Delaney & architect Noel Keating. Unveiled in 1967 Tone stands in isolation in front of Keating’s framework of granite monoliths, prompting the nickname Tonehenge. The statue of Tone was blown up by loyalist extremists in February 1971. Delaney, who cast the figure of Tone himself, in his foundry in Dún Laoghaire, was able to repair it and have it back in place by November of that year.
