Healy Pass

After 3 days of almost total fog on the Beara Pennisula, the clouds cleared as we crossed over Healy's Pass on our way to the Kingdom. 

The original route of this road, running through the Caha Mountains on the Beara Pennisula, was cut during the Great Famine as a poor-relief public works project and was first called the Kerry Pass.

The route was renamed after Timothy Michael Healy, former Governer-General of the Irish Free State, who died in 1931, shortly after the road was refurbished.
